About me

¡Hola! I am a state tax reporter at Bloomberg Tax. My work spans from covering tax bills in state legislatures, including Puerto Rico, to writing in-depth stories on tax policy. My favorite tax topic to explore is incentives.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my dog, caring for my indoor jungle, watching documentaries, and practicing Pilates. I speak Spanish and English, and I’m practicing French.

Background

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I didn’t realize I wanted to become a journalist until my first year in high school, even though I was referred to as ‘la chica por qué‘ (the ‘why girl’) in kindergarten. (Now I get paid to ask why.) I moved to the US in 2020 to pursue a career in business journalism, inspired by the lack of Latinos, especially Puerto Ricans, in that beat. I have lived in New York and Washington, DC, where I am currently based.

Work

Prior to my current role, I worked as a fellow in the investigative unit of CNBC and as a reporter and web editor at the Center for Investigative Journalism in Puerto Rico. My stories have been published on CNBC, NBC News, Bloomberg L.P., New York Daily News, Centro de Periodismo Investigativo, El Nuevo Día, Metro Puerto Rico, and Caribbean Business.

Education

I have a master’s degree in business and economics reporting from New York University. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico.

These companies, organizations and individuals sponsored my journalism degrees: Meta Platforms, Inc. (formerly named Facebook, Inc.), New York University, New York Financial Writers’ Association, National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and María Elena Salinas.
